Igbegu Mining Crises: Emegha Orders For Immediate Stop Of Mining Activities

Ebonyi State Commissioner, ministry of  Internal Security,  Border Peace & Conflict Resolution, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha has directed JEP-JAF Mining Company & Host Community to stop further mining operations at Ndiezeoke Village, Igbeagu Development Centre until government concludes its investigation. Chief Okoro Emegha gave the order while presiding over a reconciliatory peace meeting between JEP-JAF Mining Company & the Host Community in Ndiezeoke Village held at the Ministry's Conference Hall, Government House, Abakaliki, recently. He maintained that the Ministry would work in synergy with the State Ministry of Solid Minerals in a bid to know the remote cause of the dispute in the mining site & whether the Host Community, Ndiezeoke Village, Igbeagu & JEP-JAF Mining Company reached a Community Development Agreement (CDA) according to government specifications. The Commissioner urged the two warring parties to embrace peace & love one another by following legal framework governing mining operations in the area. Responding, the special Assistant to the Governor on Special Project (Ebonyi North), Mr. Richard Idike appreciated the state government for wading into the matter with a view to finding out the truth.

Ebonyi APP Commends The State House Of Assembly's Approval Of N180m For Council Polls

The Ebonyi state chapter of Action People's Party(APP) have commended the Ebonyi state House of Assembly for expressly approving the 180 million requested by the state governor as the amount needed by the Ebonyi state Independence Electoral commission (EBSIEC) for the conduct of the 2020 Council election in the state.
