Ebonyi State House Committee On Establishment, Donor Agency Visits Ministry of Human Capital Development
The Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Establishment and Donor Agency, has paid a working visit to the Ministry of Human Capital Development and monitoring.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Nkemka Okoro stated that the visit was part of the Committee’s oversight functions.
He noted that it was part of the responsibilities of the House Committee to periodically visit Establishments of government towards knowing their challenges in other to assist in resolving same.

Also speaking, the member, representing Izzi East State constituency, Mr Nwegede Anthony, said the committee’s visit was never to witch-haunt anyone, but aimed at finding out how government establishments were faring.
In his response the Commissioner for Information and acting Commissioner for Human Capital Development and monitoring, Mr Orji Uchenna Orji, appreciated the Committee members for the visit, describing the team as a driving hub whose visit was timely.

He explained that the State governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi has not only raised the status of the state leading to global recognition, but has also widened the horizon of its Empowerment programmes stretching to economic, educational and psychological empowerment.
According to Mr Orji, the Ebonyi state governor has traversed every segment of the society, empowering the Clergy, widows, Civil servants, Security outfits, and of recent, repentant cultists.

He disclosed that through the various empowerment programmes of the state Chief Executive, Ebonyi state has not only moved to the position of the first ten in West African Examination Council grading, but also recently ranked best in medicine and surgery in a survey conducted, while the local government area with the highest number of enrolment also went to Ikwo, a council area in Ebonyi state.

He reiterated the ministry’s readiness to develop and unveil its Talent hunt/mentorship scheme which according to him would be ninety percent private sector driven, once the committee saddled with the responsibility completes its preliminary assignment on NEEDS ASSESMENT.

Other members of the Committee who were in the team during the visit, were Mr Chinedu Onah – representing Ohaukwu South, Oliver Osi – Ivo, and Moses Odunwa – representing Ikwo South Constituency.
