Ebonyi Government Reintroduces Monthly Clean Up Exercise

Ebonyi State Government has reintroduced monthly clean up exercise in the state.

This was contained in a release signed by the State Commissioner for environment, Chief Emmanuel Uguru noted that His Excellency the Governor has approved state wide general environmental cleaning up exercise to begin soon across the state.

It further directed all homes, public and private institution such as hospitals, shops, banks, schools, churches and motor parks to keep their surroundings including drainages and gutters clean.

The Commissioner warned that dumping of refuse along the road sides and road medians during the exercise is a punishable offence.

He directed that all generated refuse to be carefully bagged and thrown into evacuation tipper that will be slowly moving around the entire Streets of the capital city.

“There will be total restriction of both human and vehicular movements in the state while shops, markets and motor parks etc are to remain closed during the exercise.

“Meanwhile, there will be Law Enforcement Agencies and mobile court to arrest, try and convict defaulters instantly.

“Defaulters shall face Sanctions of not less than #20, 000 and imprisonment terms depending on the degree of offences as contained in the state environmental law”
