DSS Gives Clarifications On Justice Bulkachuwa's Alleged Indictment

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied that it indicted Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, Chairman, Presidential Election Tribunal, for bribery and corruption. Public Relations Officer of the service, Mr Peter Afunanya, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, in reaction to reports of such indictment of the judge by DSS. He urged the public to disregard the report, saying it only existed in the imagination of the authors. Afunanya described the report as “unfortunate”, adding that making the falsehood public was unethical. He said the service had commenced a detailed investigation into the controversies surrounding the publication. The spokesman advised politicians to be law-abiding and respect the process of litigations regarding the activities of the tribunal “and leave the service alone”. Gunmen, claimed to be wearing military camouflage, have attacked Kaduna village, killing many The attack occurred in two local government areas, Kajuru and Kachia.  This is coming barely few weeks after the state governor had, in a statement, alleged that over 150 persons were killed in Kajuru. The embattled Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has finally resigned after much pressure. Although no official statement has been released on the issue, reliable sources confirmed her resignation on Friday. The 51-year-old former minister is reported to have resigned following pressure arising from her questionable NYSC discharge certificate. In November 2015, Adeosun was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Finance by President Muhammadu Buhari. Kemi was born in 1967 in London, England to Nigerian parents from Ogun State. Benue Killings: Army Arrests Suspected Boko Haram Kingpin

The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected Boko Haram member said to have been the mastermind of “most of the recent attacks in Benue State.” He was identified as Aminu Yaminu, a.k.a Tashaku. Tashaku was arrested by combined troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade, the Police and the Department of State Security Services in Makurdi,the state capital. Another Three Nigerians Jailed In UK

Seven  men, three of whom are Nigerians, have been jailed in the United Kingdom for counterfeiting the British passport and allied identity documents to help immigration offenders live illegally in the country. The jailed Nigerians are Abdul Azeeza, Alfred Adekoya and Victor Ariyo. Abdul Azeeza,58, who claimed to be  an ex-professional footballer  was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment by the Woolwich Crown Court which heard  that “it was at his address” that the factory producing the false documents was found. He was found with a false passport in his back pocket, a residency card in his wallet and “all the implements of making them on the kitchen table.” Alfred Adekoya of Kingslake Street, London was sentenced to 40 months and two weeks in custody after pleading guilty to conspiracy to manufacture a fake document. Mexico has beaten its record of homicides, with 25 per cent more murders recorded last year. There were 25,339 murders across the drug-ravaged country in 2017, the highest annual tally since modern records began, government data showed. The figure was nearly 25 percent more than the 2016 tally, interior ministry data released on Saturday showed. It was the highest annual total since the government began counting murders in 1997. Mexico has struggled with years of violence as the government has battled vicious drug cartels that have increasingly splintered into smaller, more bloodthirsty, gangs. The Katsina Police Command says it has arrested a 28-year-old housewife for allegedly killing her 40-day-old step son. The suspect resides in Majoji Village in Mai’adua Local Government Area of Katsina State. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bensen Gwana, paraded the suspect before newsmen on Friday in Katsina. “The suspect allegedly poisoned the baby through giving him drinking water. “The mother of the baby suspected foul-play and took the baby to the Mai’adua Hospital and later Daura General Hospital where it was confirmed that the boy was poisoned. “The baby died at the Daura General Hospital when medical experts failed to stop the continuous watery stooling and vomiting,” the police boss said. Following frequent attacks by Boko Haram insurgents, some community leaders in Madagali, Adamawa state, have threatened that their people would relocate to neighbouring Cameroon. Speaking during a presentation of relief materials by NEMA to those affected by recent attacks on Gulak town, the headquarters of the council on Thursday, the community leaders expressed disatisfation with the situation adding that distribution of food to the affected communities was not their ”top priority.” Yusuf Muhammad, chairman of the council, said security of lives and property was their major concern. ”Our top priority in Madagali local Government Area is that we need security not food.
