Ebony Council Polls: Tension as Tough Challenger Emerges From Afikpo South Against Eni Uduma

More groups have joined in the call for engr francis kanu of Edda extraction to vie for the chairman Afikpo south local government.

Picking the expression of interest and nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the local government election at the party seceteriate  state, Engr. Kanu said that he is sure of winning the primary to outdo the incumbent chairman barrister Eni Uduma.

To demonstrate their confidence in Kanu as a public servant ,the stakeholders of the local government Dynamic Movement ” trooped out in their numbers  to assist in the purchasing the Expression Of Interest And Nomination Forms.

Known for various empowerment programmes in Afikpo South and even beyond, said he had registered west african examination council exam for over 1000 indigent students and paid school fees for under graduate youths of the Local Government Area which is why the youths thronged his private residence to urge him to throw his hat in the ring as the chairmanship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party draws near.

Kalu, stormed the party secretariat with over five thousand supporters and major stakeholders in the local government to pick the nomination and interest form in high spirit, while addressing journalists, kalu said that he represents the interest of the majority of the people of Afikpo south, and that his philanthropic and peaceful nature had in no doubt contributed to the call for him to pick the form to lead his people, kalu said he has empowered women and youths in the area, promised to restore peace to the people as well as to use his vast experience in the banking industry to develope the people.

Member representing Afikpo south/east constituency at the Ebonyi state house of Assembly Mr chidi Ejem, while reacting to the revolutionary move, said that it is a welcome development because Engr. Kalu is a peaceful man and he has the capacity to restore peace in the area and to harness the rich cultural and human resources in the region.

Also, Mrs Chima omoigwe, a management committee member described Engr. Kalu as a leader and a mentor with the quality to bring back the lost glory of the people of Afikpo south, she however call on all the well meaning people of the region to support the move to better their lives.

Ebonyi APP Commends The State House Of Assembly's Approval Of N180m For Council Polls

The Ebonyi state chapter of Action People's Party(APP) have commended the Ebonyi state House of Assembly for expressly approving the 180 million requested by the state governor as the amount needed by the Ebonyi state Independence Electoral commission (EBSIEC) for the conduct of the 2020 Council election in the state.
