The Inspector-General of Police, Muhammad Adamu has confirmed the zonal re-arrangement of Nigerian Police force as recommended by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, during his visit to the Force Headquarters on Monday. Recall that Umahi had requested the IGP to remove Ebonyi from Police Zone 6 Calabar to Zone 9, Umuahia and equally create additional mobile squadron in the State. This afternoon, we were informed from the IGP office that Ebonyi State Command has been removed from Police Zone 6, Calabar to Police Zone 9, Umuahia. This has become imperative in achieving the policing of our Nation's dream. It is pertinent to note that before the rearrangement, Zone 6, Calabar command comprises  Akwa-ibom, Cross-River, Rivers and Ebonyi state while Zone 9 comprises  Abia, Anambra, Enugu and Imo, making Ebonyi the only Southeast state that is not in Zone 9. N400m Fraud: ‘Olisa Metuh is political prisoner, Justice Abang is corrupt, bias’ – Fani-Kayode

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister has described Olisa Metuh, ex-spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a political prisoner. Fani-Kayode stressed that Metuh was allegedly persecuted for standing up against tyranny in Nigeria. Recall that an Abuja Federal High Court had convicted the former PDP spokesperson for laundering the sum of N400m during the administration of former President, Goodluck Jonathan. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had charged Metuh alongside his company, Destra Investment Ltd for laundering the sum of N400m meant to prosecute the war against insurgency in the North east during the era of Jonathan. Ebonyi State Governmet Partners NADDC To Set Up Electric Vehicle Assembling Plant

The Ebonyi State Governmet and National Automotive Design and Development Council have expressed readiness to partner in the establishment of an electric-powered vehicle assembling plant in Ebonyi State. According to Mr Francis Nwaze, Special assistant to the governor on Media, the  agreement was reached when the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi paid a visit to the Director of NADDC, Jelani Aliyu, MFR on Wednesday in Abuja. Aliyu explained that NADDC is at the finishing stage of certification of vehicle parts imported into the country, noting that NADDC will soon start monitoring all imported vehicle parts and will not allow vehicles parts in the country without certification. The NADDC boss explained that they have started building of an Automative Training Centre in Ebonyi state - the centre is aimed at training the people to understand the techniques of vehicles and make them become technicians. He called on the governor to identify areas of possible partnership.

Herdsmen kill man, shoot daughter, abduct wife in Delta community

Again, herdsmen have killed one man, shot his daughter and abducted the wife, after hours of sporadic shootings at Isele-Azagba Community in Aniocha North Council Area of Delta State. This followed reported arrest of some suspects in connection with the February 5, 2020 incident and one week after one of two persons abducted from the community was found dead near his house, as unidentified gunmen struck again at night. Court Jails Metuh for N400m ONSA Fraud, to Refund N425m to FG

Federal High Court, Abuja, presided over by Justice Okon Abang on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 gave a seven year jail term sentence to Chief Olisa Metuh, having found him guilty of all the seven-count charges, preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He is also to refund the sum of N425million to the Federal Government. Also convicted is his firm, Destra Investment Limited (2nd defendant), which was liquidated by the court. The seven-count charge upon which Metu was jailed borders on money laundering, criminal conversion and diversion of funds to the tune of N400, 000, 000 (Four Hundred Million Naira).

EFCC Academy to Kick-off Anti-corruption Studies, Signs MoU with ABU

In pursuance of its preventive mandate, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today, Tuesday, 25 February, 2020 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria, Kaduna State which will see the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja and the university develop a curriculum in anti-corruption studies, cyber crime and forensic. The Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, in his remarks, noted that the EFCC was exploring diverse channels towards raising the bar in the fight against corruption in the country. . . This he said, include incorporating anti-corruption and allied studies in the curriculum of Nigerian schools, while developing courses in anti-corruption, cyber crime and forensic. This, according to the EFCC boss, explains why the Commission is partnering with tertiary institutions for study and award of certificates in postgraduate studies, sub-degrees and diploma in anti-corruption, cyber crime and forensic studies.

Police barracks, churches and a house belonging to General Paul Tarfa were among several buildings torched in Adamawa State on Friday during an attack by Boko Haram terrorists. Obaseki Inspects Integrated Drainage Project, Reassures Of Curtailing Flooding In Benin

By Our Reporter The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inspected ongoing construction of an integrated underground drainage project in second Ugbor axis of Benin City, restating his commitment to curtailing flooding in the state. The governor was accompanied on the inspection tour by his Chief of Staff, Taiwo Akerele and other members of the State Executive Council (EXCO). The governor noted that the project is part of efforts to control flooding in the Ugbor axis, adding that it would address erosion and sustain other road projects in the area. The project also is an expression of the state government’s commitment to drive infrastructural development across the state.
