Ebonyi Government To Commence State Wide Talent Hunt, Mentoring
Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, and acting Commissioner for Human Capital Development and monitoring, Mr Uchenna Orji has expressed the Ministry’s readiness to organise a state wide talent hunt and mentoring scheme. The double barrel Commmissioner disclosed this during a joint meeting with the leadership of various artisans and skilled labourers in the state.
According to the Commissioner, the talent hunt which will soon be unveiled in the state would focus on the grassroots, with the 171 political wards of the state as its catchment areas.
Orji said during the hunt, stakeholders and political leaders from the wards would be used to identify talented indigenes of the State, especially in the rural areas, with a view to developing them through mentorship.
The Information boss who had earlier told the Artisans and Skilled labourers that the meeting was in response of the state governor’s directive for immediate data capturing of employable youths and women in the state, especially the unemployed graduates, artisans, craftsmen, builders, entrepreneurs among others, revealed that it was the present Administration’s determination to raise the per capita income of the inhabitants of the state, to ensure economic development of the state.
Speakers and representatives of the various Organisations, appreciated the State Governor, Engr Dvid Umahi for his developmental and human empowerment strides.
In a Communiqué issued after the meeting, the Participants welcomed the proposed talent hunt/mentorship scheme by the Ministry of Human Capital Development and Monitoring with its component parts named vertical and horizontal talent hunt initiatives.
They commended the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Nweze Umahi, for the wonderful and unprecedented Infrastructural, as well as Human Capital Development in Ebonyi State, and welcomed the idea of State government establishing state empowerment database and to involve all relevant institutions and associations for the purpose.
The Participants also requested that all the Federal Government Agencies do disclose to the State Ministry of Human Capital Development, the details of their empowerment Packages for Ebonyi State, and unanimously agreed to the setting up of a committee to develop a template for data capturing of employable graduates, artisans, craftsmen, builders and entrepreneurs; made up of representatives of the National population Commission, National Identity Management Commission, Industrial Training Fund, National Directorate of Employment, GUMEBA, Artisan Association of Nigeria, among others.
