One of the secrets of Governor David Nweze Umahi's fast and quality achievements in infrastructural development is consistent monitoring and supervision he embarks on projects sites.
Yesterday, the 16th of January 2020, following Governor Umahi's keen interest in the development of the South East region, which contributed to his ever desire that the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu be of
use without further delay, he paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the project site to check the spect of progress at the airport.
Recall that shortly before the end of last year (2019), His Excellency, Engr Chief David Nweze Umahi who doubles as the Chairman of South East Governor's forum, had led the leadership of South East to His Excellency, President Mohammed Buhari of which 10bn was approved for the renovation of the Enugu airport.
Sequel to that, efforts have been in a top gear to hasten the job in order to amilurate the sufferings occasioned by the closure of the airport,, to open the gate for the South East economic emancipation through air transportation and international full_fuse.

In his words, "I must appreciate Mr President whose interest is that the South East be developed for approving the fund for the renovation of the airport and construction of the second Niger bridge",* I also appreciate the contractor handling the project for the speed at which work is in progress here, the airport manager, the commissioners who came with me for the inspection, the local government Chairmen, and others. We must keep our fingers crossed to ensure that the renovation and upgrading work in the airport is done, not just done but qualitatively done; and the airport reopens by 1st week of April, 2020 for continuous use", he said.
