Chairman Exco Committee On Solid Minerals Warns Against Unverified Data Circulation

In line with Ebonyi State Government new policy on IGR and Solid Mineral Development, the Chairman State Executive Council Committee on Solid Mineral IGR, Hon Jonah Egba has warned against media circulation of unverified data that is not approved by the committee Chairman or the Ministry of Solid Mineral Communities.

Addressing newsmen after inspecting some Solid Mineral Companies in Ohaukwu LGA, the Exco Committee Chairman and Commissioner for Solid Mineral Development, Hon. Jonah Egba said the visit as directed by the Governor was to compile a verifiable data indicating locations, registration status, staff strength, production capacity and compliance with payment of IGR by the companies. He disclosed that government has increased truck fees from six thousand naira to nine thousand naira, and that payment of IGR by companies would no longer be through contracted revenue agents, but by direct payment to the State Government IGR account by the companies.

The Commissioner however directed all the companies to furnish the committee through his office with all relevant documents with regards to their registration, equipment, staff strength, production capacity and payments to state and federal government as well as the company's lease agreement, environmental impact assessment and memorandum of understanding with government and their host community.

Some of the companies visited include Stone Pile Company located at Amaechi Ezzangbo, Master Rock Company Ukwuagba and Ceaman Mining and Construction Company also in Ohaukwu LGA. All the companies visited promised to comply with the new government directives

The commissioner was accompanied at the visit by Permanent Secretary Ministry of Solid Mineral Communities, the PRS, PRO of the Ministry, other members of the Committee and media persons.
