Abide By New Government Directives On IGR, Egba Charges Solid Minerals Companies

In continuation of visit to Solid Minerals Companies for documentation and sensitization on new government policy on payment of Internally Generated Revenue, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals Communities and Chairman of Exco Committee on Solid Minerals IGR and documentation, Hon. Jonah Egba has called on all solid minerals companies in the state to strictly comply with the new policy.
Speaking when he led members of his committee to various mining and quarry sites across the State, Commissioner Egba told the Executive Directors and Site Managers of the companies that the new IGR policy was to consolidate on the development strides that is ongoing in the state under the leadership of Governor David Nweze Umahi and as well provide conducive environment for both investors, host communities and government to operate. He explained that government shall henceforth give operators provisional certificate of occupancy, and expect the investors to pay directly to government annual fees and haulage fees for all trucks leaving their sites.
The committee however demanded from the companies important information and documents such as their registration name, type of license, list of staff,envirionmental audit report, production capacity, reciepts of payment of previous IGR and other essential information.
In their response, Managers of solid minerals companies visited by the committee appreciated the state Governor and the ministry of Solid minerals development for giving them support and friendly environment to operate. They pledged to comply with the new policy on IGR and also pleaded that the implementation should be structured in the way that both government, the investors and host communities will benefit without much stress.
Some of the companies visited for inspection, briefing and documentation by Hon Jonah Egba led Exco Committee include First Patriot Mining and Processing company in Enyigba/Ndufu Alike, Ishiagu/Enyigba, Goodnews Multi purpose Corporative, Umoghara Stone Crushing Cluster, Proxy Investment Ltd Ezilo, and Crushed Rock Industry Ltd Ishiagu in Ivo LGA. Others are China Oriental Ameze Ishiagu, Yitei Nigeria Ltd, Arab Construction, Gexpam mining company Ltd, Greenfield company among others.
The solid minerals Comissioner's team was made up of the permanent Secretary Sunday Okike, Executive Secretary Obini Nweze, PRS, Geologists, PRO of the Ministry, STAs, TAs attached to the Ministry of Solid minerals, the Media and other members of the State Exco Committee on Solid minerals.
