Umahi's Aide Vows To Put School Agricultural Program On A Right Pedestal
In line with the determination of the state Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi to inculcate entrepreneurial spirit in the younger generation through Agriculture.
The special assistant to Ebonyi state on school Agricultural program, Hon. Aga Kennedy Uchenna has continued his inspection and on spot assessment of all the pilot schools across the state.
This is to ascertain the progress of the program in those schools and the level utilization of Agric grant made available to them by His Excellency, Governor David Umahi.
In the light of the above, the special assistant to the governor on school Agricultural program, inspected some of the schools in Ikwo Local Government Area of the state.
In community secondary school Ndufu Alike Ikwo, the SA was received by the principal, Okeh Pamela Aloli alongside the Agric committee members, which include Okeke Arua Ngozi, Idah Nte Obi and Ochie Michael E.
Their project is rice and Cassava. It was observed that their old and new cassava farm but much was not on ground to justify the huge grant of money that the made available for the program. Therefore, SA therefore directed all the Agric committee members to see him in his office on Friday, 24th January 2020 to see how the program will be revived and the modalities of repaying back the grant.
At Ikwo High school Agubia, the SA was welcomed by the school principal, Mr Nwankwo Felix O. The Agric committee members on ground were Ogboji John and Igwe Samuel. The school has Poultry and Cassava as their project. They was nothing on ground at all and the SA also invited them for a meeting on Friday.
Meanwhile, at community secondary school Ndiegu Echara, the school Principal, Nweke Florence Ogugua and the Agric committee members which includes Nwite F.A., Okah C.C. , John Nwonu and Matthew Ogbeta were on hand to welcome the SA. Their school Agric project is Poultry/cassava/Rice/palm plantation. Though , they have their old and cassava farm, but it grossly inadequate to justify the government grant to the school as they have exhausted the grant without any commensurate result to show for it.
The SA also directed that all the Agric Committee members to come for a meeting in his office on Friday, 24th January 2020 to chat the way forward in reviving the program in the school.
