Ebonyi Ag. Commmissioner For Human Capital Development Inaugurates Tripartite Committee To Develope Modalities For Talent Hunt, Mentorship Scheme
The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, and Acting Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, Hon Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji has inaugurated a tripartite committee to develop the ministry’s proposal for Talent hunt/Mentorship Scheme.
The Committees include;
1. Committee on short- listing of public office holders per ward( from DC Coordinators and above ) and five most successful businessmen per local government to serve as Mentors
2. Committee on Need Assessment to select at least twenty trades that are lucrative and common to the one hundred and seventy one(171) wards in Entrepreneurship, vocational and creative industry, that can trigger economic development in the State.
3. Committee on Mentorship and Empowerment of repented cultists.
The Committees which have STAs and TAs to the Governor on Human Capital and Monitoring, including Chief Dunstan Nwogbaga, Mrs Bene Oba, Ifeanyi Orji, Amechi Oken, Chukwuma Agbafor, Mr Rostick and Mrs Mary Azubuike as members, have not more than one month to submit their reports.
Orji used the opportunity to unveil a private sector- based scheme called Talent hunt/Mentorship Scheme, which according to him is in two dimensions; viz; Horizontal talent hunt/mentorship mechanism, whereby the Political Office Holders from each of the one hundred and seventy one (171) wards, (from Coordinators and above) will as mentors select the best talented persons in entrepreneurship, vocational traders, as well as creative industry, from thier ward, through a fair competitive selection process.
He disclosed that the talented persons, one per trade (for not less than 20 trades per ward) will in turn undergo another local government competition wherein the best in each of the wards will be assessed in other to select the best in the local government per trade.
These mentors per ward are meant to give mentorship, moral and financial support to the talented ones and prepare them for the local government completion.
Those selected at the local government per trade shall be selected as local government contingents for the state final selection process, wherein the best person per trade at the state level will emerge.
Also the Vertical Talent hunt /Mentorship Scheme whereby the State Entrepreneurship, Vocational and Creative Industry Associations or Organizations will carry out the selection process of their members from their respective trades through a competitive process from the Ward, the LGA and State and recommend sane to the Ministry of Human Capital Development and Monitoring for shortlisting in the empowerment Programme of the State Government
A modern business proposal of not less than N1 million Naira shall be developed for the beneficiaries under this initiative by the line Ministries and Agencies of Government
Orji also stated that business organisations, corporate bodies, as well as successful business men across the local government areas will be engaged on the need to offer empowerment assistance to the best talented ones, selected from the local government areas.
The best talented ones at the state level shall be recognised and called to the Millionaire’s Club Scheme of Governor David Nweze Umahi, while those who have assisted in empowering them shall be recognised and called to the Order of Akubaraoha Hall of fame, and shall be given awards ranging from Grand Commander, Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (GCOAHF), Commander Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (COAHF), Chief Mentor Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (CMOAHF), Officer Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (OOAHF), Mentor Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (MOAHF), Distinguished Fellow Order of AKUBARAOHA Hall of Fame, Fellow Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (FOAHF) and Member Order of Akubaraoha Hall of Fame (MOAHF), depending on the level of their performance of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
It is hoped that every year, thousands of Ebonyians will be made millionaires and carreers if professionals shall be enhanced, thus raising the Human Capital Development index of Ebonyi State and raising the per capital income ratio of the citizenry
Responding on behalf of the Committee members, Hon Dustan Ogbaga and Mrs Bene Oba assured the Commissioner on behalf of other members that they will do thier best to carry out the assignment given to them
In another development, Orji Uchenna Orji has assured the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, of the readiness of the state government to partner with it to ensure that Ebonyi people register enmass in the on- going National Identity Card registration.
The Commissioner who reminded the people the importance of the National identity card said the state government will give the Commission all needed assistance to succeed in the state.
Mr Uchenna Orji said that the ministry will also sensitize the people on the need to get registered, and enjoined the citizenry to leverage on the new easy registration procedures and get registered in the interest of the state
Speaking earlier, the South East Regional Director of the Commission, Mr Frank Onuigboje said they came to seek Collaboration with the state government on how to enhance the registration status of the State. He said the residents of the state have been reluctant in registering, thereby making the state to score low in the registration across the country.
