Ebonyi Security Commmissioner Calls For Peace In Afikpo Community

In keeping with the determination of Ebonyi State Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi, in ensuring a peaceful and crime free State.

The Commissioner for internal security, border peace and conflict resolution, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, in his usual way, have resolved the case of an alleged assault and attack matted on Chief Mbe Obeni by some youth of kpoghirikpo Community of Afikpo North Council Area of the state.

Addressing a cross-section of leaders and youths of the community during a peace meeting at the Conference Hall, Ministry of internal security, border peace and conflict resolution, Government House, Abakaliki, Charged the youths to always accord respect to elders no matter the provocation.

He said, there is no gain for brothers to engage in squabble with each other, as it will only retard the peace, progress and Development of the community.

Emegha Sue for peace and forgiveness to anyone who may been wronged in any way, so that the lasting peace the governor want in the state prevails.

Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the youths, Chief Obeni explained that on 23rd December, 2018 while he was in a drinking spot with friends, a group of youths from the Community in their numbers acusted, attacked and left him on the pull of his own blood. He said that he reported the matter to police.

The Commissioner therefore, appealed to Mr  Obeni to forgive and withdraw the case he insituted against the Youths in court.

Mr Obeni said he has no intention prosecuting the case, but he was embittered by the assault against him by his own people and said, he has forgiven them for the interest of Peace in the community.

The Coordinator, Ubeyi Development Center, Hon. Uche Ibiam, president General, kpoghirikpo Community, Chief Arthur Okpani  among others, commended the Commissioner, for the quick and accelerated response given to me matter and promised that such will never occur again kpoghirikpo Community. They equally expressed satisfaction with Mr mbeh Obeni for accedding to the request of the elders, leaders and Youths for the overall interest of Peace in the community.
