Motorcycle Ban; Government Warns Tricycle Operators Against Arbitrary Fare Hike
Ebonyi State Government has warned Tricycle Operators in the state not to take advantage of the current ban on motorcycle and arbitrary hike their fares.
This position of government was made known to the public by the Commmissioner for internal security, border peace and conflict resolution, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, in a public statement in Abakaliki, the state capital.
The statement reads;
“The Ebonyi State Government has observed that some Tricycle
Operators in the State have arbitrarily hiked their fares in the midst of the current hardship occasioned by the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the country and efforts by the state Government to ameliorate the situation.

2. Government frowns’ at this negative development and hereby
directs the leadership of Tricycle Unions in the State to revert to the
original fares immediately as Government will not tolerate the undue exploitation of the citizens, thereby exacerbating their hardship.

3. Government further directs members of the public to continue to pay the original fare and to report any defaulting Tricycle operator to the Ministry of Internal Security, Border Peace and Conflict Resolution by texting the number of the tricycle for appropriate action”, the statement concluded.
