COVID -19: Gov Umahi Values Life More Than Saving Money For Project, Says Igwe As Government Commence Fumigation Of Public Places

The Deputy Governor of Ebonyi state, Dr kelechi Igwe have disclosed that huge resources of the state has gone down, in an effort to prevent the dreaded Corona virus pandemic from spreading into the state, but maintained that the governor, Engr David Umahi place high premium in the life of every member of the state, than saving money for projects.

Dr Igwe made the revelation during commencement of fumigation exercise of markets and other public places across the state.

He said that the Fumigation was part of measures to prevent coronavirus and other epidemic from spreading into the state.

The Deputy Governor represented the state Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi, flagged off the exercise at Margaret Umahi International Market, Abakaliki.

Dr Igwe explained that the exercise has become necessary to disinfect public places to reduce the risk of contacting coronavirus and other deadly diseases.

" the exercise is very important and it shows government preparedness to secure the lives of its citizens which is one of the constitutional mandates of a leader " the Governor said.

He used the occasion to call  on residents of the state to maintain environmental hygiene and take other precautionary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus otherwise known as covid -19.

The state Commissioner for Health Dr Daniel Umezurike  further explained that the exercise is inevitable because some of the diseases are transmitted by insects and wild animals.

He said the exercise was carried  out on a Sunday because of the side effects of the chemicals and appealed to people coming to the market from tomorrow to endeavor to use their face masks.
