COVID-19: Senator Ama Nnachi distributes relief food items to constituents

The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial district Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi has  distributed  over five thousand bags of Rice and other food items worth millions of naria to his constituents.

Flagging off the distribution at his country home Itim Edda, Afikpo South LGA  Senator Ama who was ably represented by  his legislative Assistant Hon Gerald Obinna Agha said that the food items were to help cushion the harsh effects caused by Coronavirus disease outbreak.

He said  he was moved by the challenges which the people were facing especially the  aged indigents in the area of feeding following various restriction orders put in place by the government meant at preventing the spread of the  virus in the state.

 He insisted that the target of the distribution of the relief food items are mainly the aged and the vulnerable, hence its insistence on direct distribution to the intended beneficiaries across the 58 Wards that make up the Ebonyi South Senatorial  district.

Recall  that Senator Ama Nnachi has made the donation of N5 million and also had joined his colleagues at the National Assembly to offer Federal Government 50 percent of their one month salaries to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

The efforts of the Senator  are to complement that of Ebonyi State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency Chief David Umahi, the Local Government Chairmen, the State Assembly members and other well meaning Ebonyians in this trying time.

The Senator who called on the people to adhere to all safety protocols outlined by relevant authorities, further advised his constituents to maintain safe acts of social distancing, regular handwashing with soaps, use of sanitizer and avoid touching their faces and handshakes.

While assuring  his avowed commitment to  the welfare and the betterment of the people of  Ebonyi South zone, Senator Ama expressed confidence that the Almighty God would not allow the disease to rear its ugly head in Ebonyi State.

 Some of the stakeholders who witnessed the flag off including the member representing Afikpo South East constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon Chidi Ejem represented by Hon Okorafor Ugwuocha ( Mustapha) and others  Commended the humanitarian gesture of the Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi and thanked him for the various efforts made so far to cushion the effect of hardship occasioned by the outback of the virus.
Some beneficiaries including Mrs Ugo Okole, Madam Therasa Nnachi, Mr Ufiem Agwu and Mr Agwu Orji who were overwhelmed by the gifts thanked Senator Ama Nnachi for his magnanimity and prayed God to continue to bless and protect him.
