Fake Revenue Collectors Nabbed In Ebonyi

No fewer than four fake Revenue Collectors was on Tuesday, nabbed along popular Ogoja road in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
Igwe Joshua, Anyigor Chidiebere and two others who claimed to be government contractors on internally generated revenue IGR, under the ministry of finance, were nabbed following a distressed phone call from a shop owner who suspected them to be fake.
The special assistant to governor David Umahi on special project, Richard Idika while narrating the matter to the Commmissioner for internal security, border peace and conflict resolution, Stanley Okoro Emegha, said,  “I ran into them while trying to collect money from a shop owner in Ogoja road, the shop owner who apprehensive on demand of nine thousand naira (#9,000) against the normal fourteen thousand naira (#14,000) she has been paying and also that she has been paying through the bank and not cash as demanded by them. I interrogated them but they were very vocal that they are Government contractors on IGR. I then put a call to the Commmissioner for finance, who ordered for their arrest”, he explained.
The Commissioner for internal security border peace and conflict resolution, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha however, reminded of the existing ban placed on IGR contractor by the state government and subsequently handed over to the police for  proper investigation.
Items recovered from them includes mobile phones, invoice and sixteen thousand four hundred and ninety naira cash (#16,490) only.
