Barr. Ben Odoh; Passionately Championing The Course Of ADR Through "Settle With Laughter"

Settle with Laughter, a TV program designed with the sole intent of promoting justice, will celebrate its 3 years anniversary since it first aired on TV. Settle with laughter is a program that advocates the use of AlternativeDispute Resolution, ADR, otherwise called African Dispute Resolution, thereby promoting justice to the accused, to the state and to the society.

For the past 36 months, Barr. Odoh Ben Uruchi, the Personal Assistant (Tech) to the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, and Member, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, ICMC, has produced Settle with Laughter on EBBC, Salt Television, Abakaliki.

In a span of 36 months, since its debut, legal luminaries, traditional and religious leaders, humanitarians, public and civil servants and political office holders who have graced the program with their presence have all lent their voices to extolling the benefits inherent in Settling with Laughter, through ADR.

Through the program, an appreciable number of the viewers, both on Salt TV and on Youtube, have indicated interest in and even gone ahead to train as mediators and conciliators. Many more have embraced negotiation and mediation as against litigation.

In a chat with Ebonyigist, Barr Ben Uruchi Odoh said that 'Settle with Laughter' has achieved a lot in 3 years.

He said

" It has been challenging but we have been able to Settle land disputes, family disputes and work-place disputes. We have also helped decongest the prisons at No COST in Ebonyi State. We have helped train lots of Ebonyians to be Negotiators, Mediators and Arbitrators and currently on the verge of establishing a dispute resolution centre in Abakaliki."

Barr Ben thanked the management and staff of Ebonyi Broadcasting Corporation, Salt FM and Salt TV, especially the Director General, Engr. Timothy Nwachi, TV program director (at the time of debut), Engr. Thomas Otuu, and the Program anchors Chika Igwe and Amaka Chukwu for their support.

Ebonyi APP Commends The State House Of Assembly's Approval Of N180m For Council Polls

The Ebonyi state chapter of Action People's Party(APP) have commended the Ebonyi state House of Assembly for expressly approving the 180 million requested by the state governor as the amount needed by the Ebonyi state Independence Electoral commission (EBSIEC) for the conduct of the 2020 Council election in the state. The new born babies who are the crown Queen's birthday mates received gifts items from her.
