Ebonyi Government Dispells School Bomb Scare Rumor: Charges Journalist On Professional Reportage
The Commissioner for internal Security, border peace and conflict resolution, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha has described as "false" the rumor of any Bomb Scares or explosion in any part of the state.
The Commissioner said that immediately the information got him, he deployed other security agencies to school. But on getting there, he found out that it was a fireworks procured by one of the students that exploded while playing with it.
"The rumors that they was a Bomb explosion in a school in Abakaliki is completely false". "As the Commissioner for internal Security, border peace and conflict resolution in the state, I was notified of the rumor, I contacted other security agencies and I immediately moved to the scene, on getting there, i discovered that it was a fireworks that one of student was playing with suddenly exploded and that caused panic in the school", Commissioner said.
He said that the student who is playing with the fireworks was injured and has been taken care of, medically.
He revealed that he visited the school this Friday morning and the children were all writing their exams.
"I visited the school this morning, I must tell you, the students are all busy with their exams. "Please, let me say it once again, there is no bomb explosion in Ebonyi State".
The Commissioner however, advised journalist to always cross check facts, find out from the right source before putting up their stories to avoid misleading the public.
