Government Inaugurates Task Force On Signage and Outdoor Advertisement
Ebonyi state government has inaugurated the newly
constituted ten – man Task force on signage and outdoor advertisement, with the
charge on them to carry out their duty with utmost diligent and most acceptable
standard.

The special assistant to the state governor on capital city, Hon. Stanley Okoro
Emegha charged them to be of good conduct and warned that their activities will
be carefully monitored, and anyone found sabotaging or indulging in any act
contrary to the set standard of their operation, will be shown the way out of
the system. He advised them against undue intimidation and harassment of the members
of the public and other similar act, as such will not be tolerated by the state
government.
Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, emphasized that, Governor Umahi
approved the constitution of the Task force due to urgent need to regulate and
sanitize the indiscriminate mounting of billboards and other similar activities
in the state and ensure that those involved in the business remits what is due
to government into the coffers. He reiterated that for the past three years,
government has not received any revenue from the operators of that sector,
hence the need reposition it became imperative.
He warned the team that their operations is regulated by law
and therefore, urged them not to take laws into their hands, by embarking on
any illegal dealings or beating up anybody, as the legal department are saddled
with all legal aspect of the job. He reminded them that all that is needed for
them to execute the task are being put in place, including the armed security
operatives for their protection and other vital logistics.
Hon. Emegha further told the task force team that their
primary responsibilities among others things, are to notify the bill board
owners and others on the need to comply and get the required approval from
Abakaliki Capital Territory Development Board (ACTDB) as the stipulated amount
commensurate to that effect has been gazette. He therefore, urged those
involved to also visit the board for more clarification.
On his part, the leader of the Task Force team, Mr Okeh
Solomon thanked Engr David Nweze Umahi and Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha founding
them worthy to serve and promised not to disappoint them and the state.
