Edo guber race; PDP insists, APCs Obaseki credentials fake.

The Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has insisted that the APC candidate in the forthcoming election, Godwin Obaseki forged one of the academic credentials he submitted for the election.
Edo APC candidate, Godwin Obaseki
According to the Edo PDP, Obaseki’s secondary school certificate examination result to gain admission to the University of Ibadan as submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is fake.
The allegation is coming barely a week after Obaseki announced the recovery of his missing certificates to the public.
During an interactive session with civil society groups in the state last week, Obaseki disclosed that he has found the originals of his missing certificates over he deposed to an affidavit at an Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday, June 7 this year.

This past weekend, Edo PDP chairman, Chief Dan Orbih claimed that Obaseki’s 1973 certificate with which he gained admission to the University was doctored.
Chief Orbih made the allegation while speaking at a summit organised by the PDP to address the challenges facing sports development in Edo state with a view to proffering solutions to them.
Showing journalists what he claimed was Obaseki’s certificate, Chief Orbih said: “I have had Oshiomhole refer to him as a technocrat and the candidate himself describe himself as one.
“Here with me is the school certificate he used to gain admission to the University of Ibadan. In this result, he did not pass Economics, but he calls himself head of economic team. In the same certificate, he made P7 in English and failed Mathematics.
“He claimed he entered university the year he left secondary school. How could he have gained admission with such result? The result was not even good enough for any form of preliminary studies.
“This can only mean that Godwin Obaseki forged certificates to gain admission to the University of Ibadan. It is obvious that the man has no academic qualifications as he had only three credits”.
In a swift reaction, the coordinator of the Godwin Obaseki Campaign Organisation, described the allegation as unimaginable and tasked journalists to verify Obaseki’s academic qualifications at the University of Ibadan.
His words: “For people who are hollow and intellectually deficient, of course, they could make all kinds of imaginable and unimaginable allegations to cover up the fact that they are not marketable.”

Meanwhile, Governor Adams
Oshiomhole has alleged that the PDP is planning to import thugs from other states into Edo state for the September 10 governorship election in the state.
Oshiomhole made the allegation when he received the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, Benin City, Mr Adeyinka Kolawole Sodipo at the Government House, Benin recently.
In a related development, the PDP in Edo state is waxing strong ahead of the elections as over 700 APC members recently joined the party in Ovia North East LGA of Edo state.
The move is coming barely two weeks after a former gubernatorial candidate of the APC, Don-Pedro Obaseki, who is a cousin to the APC governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki defected to the PDP.
