Amana, Ohankwu Land Dispute: Government Sue For Permanent Peace
In a bid to resolve the age long land dispute between Amana village of Ezza South and Ohankwu village of Ikwo local government Areas of the state, the Hon. Commissioner for internal security and border peace, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha this Thursday mediated in a land dispute between them. He charged the two affected communities to stay away from the disputed land pending final resolution of the matter.
He warned that any of the party that breached the order will face severe wraught of Government.
Hon. Emegha therefore, urge the leaders of sides to caution their youths not to take to violence as any form of violence from any side will met with stiff resistance from Government.
"Go home and preach peace to your people, nobody should enter the disputed land anymore, caution your youths not to farment troubles as 'you' their leaders will be held responsible" he added.
Commissioner Emegha however asked the two parties to nominate Four representative each, who will represent them on Tuesday, August 27 for the continuation of the resolution process. He assured that the two affected local government Chairmen will be present on Tuesday to help fast track resolution of the matter.
Apostle Emmanuel Mbam, President Alike Ikwo Development union, Mr Samson Ekigbo from Amana, Mr Elechi Elechi from Ohankwu assured of their readiness to toe the path of peace but lamented the inability of the previous Commissioners to implement reports earlier submitted to Government to that effect. They expressed confidence in the ability of Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha in bringing to a permanent end, the age long land dispute.
Responding, Hon Emegha assured them that the land dispute will be amicably resolved to guarantee peace in the Area. He enjoined them come along with all relevant documents that will aid quick and peaceful settlement of the disputed as Governor David Umahi is a man of peace and always want the state to be in peace at all times.
