SA Agriculture Embarks On Aggressive Monitoring Of School Agricultural Program
In an effort to ensure the sustainability and high productivity of school Agricultural program of Ebonyi state government, the special assistant to the governor on school Agricultural program, Hon. Uchenna Aga, have undertaken an assessment tour of all the pilot schools in the state to know the progress of the program so far.
In the schools visited, Hon. Aga inspected the farms and thereafter, inaugurates Committee that will ensure effective monitoring and implementation of the program in their respective schools.
These are schools that benefited from Governor David Umahi's Agric grant of one million Naira in 2017 and have invested same in their respective Agricultural programs of choice.
The special assistant to the governor, on Thursday, 19th September visited Izziah Girls Secondary School, Ezzamgbo.
He was received by the principal, Mrs Egwu Agatha, the HoD, Agriculture Mr Nwoye Francis among others.
He inaugurated a Five - Man Committee which includes Egwu Agatha, Nwoye Francis, Onwe Joy, Ituma Amos and Ituma Chibuike.
Their project type is poultry and Cassava farms.
On the same day, he also visited Model Comprehensive Girls Secondary School Ugwuachara. The principal, Mrs Onunta Regina, the HoD Agriculture, Mr Igberi Necodemus among others welcomed him.
The five-man Committee inaugurated includes
Mrs Onunta Regina, Mr Igberi Necodemus, Mr Onu Ogbonnaya, Nwagu Goodwin and Mrs Chioma Amuta.
The school special interest and Agricultural program is Rice and cassava farms.
In Holy Child secondary School, Sharon, the principal Mrs Nwanne Esther and Uguru Deborah were on hand to receive him.
The Committee members inaugurated are, Nwanne Esther, Uguru Deborah, Ukpa Roseline,Okeonwe Gabriel and Igwe Nicolas.
They project is Animal husbandry and crops.
On Friday, September 20th, Hon. Aga visited Special science school, Igbeagu, Odoh Alfred Chijioke, the principal and Adaonwe Matthew, HoD Agriculture received him.
The five man Agriculture Committee inaugurated includes Odoh Alfred Chijioke, Adaonwe Matthew, Mrs Una David, Eluu Ignatius and Igwe Ignatius.
The school Agricultural program is cassava and poultry.
On his visit to Girls High school, Azuiyiokwu, he was received by Dr Nkeiru Okonkwo and Nwankwo Grace, the HoD Agriculture.
The five man Committee inaugurated includes Dr Nkeiru Okonkwo, Nwankwo Grace, John Nwoka and madueke Hellen.
The school Agricultural project is Cassava and yam farms.
In Ezza High school, Amuzu. The principal, Ufuo Michael Nweke and the HoD Agriculture, Obasi Timothy received him.
The committee members inaugurated are Ufuo Michael Nweke, Obasi Timothy, Okolie Bridget, Nwufoke Nwachukwu and Igwenome Joseph.
The school Agricultural project is Cassava and Rice.
In Ezza Girls Secondary School, Izzikworo. The principal, Ugbala Regina and the HoD Agriculture, Nwenewor Theophilus were received him and the committee members inaugurated are Ugbala Regina, Nwenewor Theophilus,Eyeke Anthonia, Nweke Maureen and Nworie Godwin.
The school Agricultural project is Poultry and Cassava farms.
Meanwhile, the SA tasked the benefitting schools to give report of their activities from 2017 till date including their Bank statement for proper documentation.
He also said that they will be an annual Agricultural fiesta where each benefitting schools will have the opportunity to showcase their various produce.
He also asked them to form Young Farmers Club (YFC) in their respective schools to inculcate in the young ones farming habits.
