Neighborhood Security Watch Group Tasked On Diligence, Professionalism... Assures Of Better Welfare Packages
The Hon. Commissioner for internal security and Border peace, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha have charged the members of the neighborhood security Watch to be at their best in the discharge of their duties, to further justify the confidence the governor, Chief Engr. David Nweze Umahi reposed in them.
Chief Emegha gave the charge during a meeting with the group, held at the multi purpose Hall, cabinet office, Government House, Abakaliki. He said, "the aim of this meeting is to review our security mechanism and restrategize on how to carry out effective security surveillance before, during and after the Independence day celebrations".
He outlined some security measures that will be adopted to help checkmate crime and criminality in the state.
Hon. Emegha enjoined them to be at their best as the governor have expressed delight over their activities and has promised to celebrate them in no distance time.
He revealed that he has secured the approval of the governor to train the members of the group, which will commence soon, to further equip them with prerequisites security 'know how' for the task of securing the state.
The Commissioner also announced that plans are on the way, to effect the increment of their salaries, procure motorcycle to enhance their welfare and productive efficiency.
On his part, the Special assistant to the governor on security and utility, Capital City, Saint Nchekwube Anako, thanked the Commissioner, whom he described as a "principled" leader, on how he
has stirred the ship of security of the state barely two months on the saddle and urged the members of the neighborhood watch group to adopt his principles.
Anako confessed that the neighborhood watch has fared well in last one month under the watch of Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha and prayed for God's Grace upon him for more work.
Speaking also, the special assistant to the governor on security and utility, Ebonyi South, Hon. Chika Nwangene thanked God for bringing a young and vibrant Commissioner, whom he said, "understands the needs of his people". He charged them to redouble their efforts in effective discharge of their duties as the Commissioner have indicated interest in uplifting some of the hardworking members through appointment.
He however, urged them to shurn every act capable of staining the image of the neighborhood, such as receiving of bribe from criminals and other similar act.
Responding, a member of the neighborhood from Ishielu Local Government Area, Ogbonnaya Chukwu, expressed appreciation to the Hon. Commissioner for how he has been handling and addressing the affairs of the neighborhood and pleaded on his colleagues to be plane and avoid any act capable of undermining the good Image of the group.
Also speaking, Ottah Obinna Joseph of DISCO 4 said that, they must not fail on their responsibility this time, because the Commissioner have
demonstrated high level responsibility. "we must not fail this time because you have impressed us", he added.
Members chatted solidarity songs in appreciation to the good works of the Commissioner.
