Ebonyi 2019 Guber Race; APC Will Win If… Party Chieftain Said As He Condemned Onueke Mayhem

A chieftain of All Progressive Congress APC, and a former state chairman of the party Hon. Ben Nwobasi have revealed that the party has all it takes to win the 2019 gubernatorial election in the state, but insists that, it can only be attainable if all the political elites in the party will agree to work together as a team and shun their overbearing personal interests and ego and place the party’s interest, which is winning the election above all.
Hon. Nwobasi said that higher responsibility however, rests squarely on the shoulder of the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Sonni Ogbuorji to muster enough courage and political will in bringing together all other candidates who contested the gubernatorial primary elections with him into the mainstream of the party so that he can earn their support and foster unity and encourage team work in the party thereby, placing the party’s chance of victory on a right pedestal.
Nwobasi said that in the build-up to the party’s primary election in the state, some candidates consulted him but he refused to pitch tent with any particular candidate, rather, what he did was to all of them as his candidate, advise them on the need for team work, unity of purpose and cohesion in the party. According to him, he was of the view that the governorship candidate of the party should be tailored towards a particular zone or towards a winnable candidate in order to brighten the party’s chance of winning the state, but the advice seemed to have fallen on deaf ears, as seen on the number of people who contested for the party’s gubernatorial primary election. ‘’for me, nine people buying nomination forms at the cost of N22.5m each, for just one position was completely unnecessary” he said. He advised the party elites to trim down on their personal interest and work in synergy with others if they actually want the party to win the forth coming election in the state.
Hon. Ben Nwobasi however, dispelled as false the rumor that he had joined other political party after losing out of the legal battle as the state chairman of the party. He also said that he never worked for Umahi under any guise, as expressed in some quarters that he was working for Governor Umahi while serving as the APC state Chairman. He insisted that he remains a loyal and an APC faithful and all his supporters are also intact in the party. He said that, as a committed member of the party, he will use his resources, time and energy to work for the victory of the party. He expressed gratitude to President Mohammed Buhari for appointing him the Board Chairman of National park services, which he described as enough compensation. He advised rumor mongers to get themselves engaged in more productive ventures order than spreading force and unfounded information.
He however condemned in strong terms, the quantum waste of lives and property of Ebonyi citizens at Onueke Ezza, during the APC national Assembly primary elections, in which several people were killed and property worth millions of Naira destroyed. He cautions politicians on the need to reduce their political interest and eschew violence as both God and man abhors violent. The former APC state Chairman noted that he remained grateful to God that during the legal battle for the soul of Chairmanship of the party in the state, he never allowed his interest to cause violence or any loss of life during the period it lasted.
It may interest you to know that Hon. Ben Nwobasi is currently the Board Chairman, National Park services. He is equally the immediate past state Chairman of APC, former member Ebonyi state House of Assembly, who represented Ezza North East. He was also a member of Universal Basic Education Board and former Chairman NASU Ebonyi state University chapter among other position.
