Even The Blinds Attests To Umahi’s Transformation Of Abakaliki Capital City – Stanley Okoro Emegha
The special assistant to Ebonyi state governor on capital
city, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, has described the award of excellence of
‘’ODOZIOBODO 1’’ of the Nigeria association of the blind, Ebonyi state chapter,
bestowed on him, as a great honor and a remarkable one. Though, according to
him, he has been a recipient of several awards from notable organization and corporate
bodies, but considers this, special in all ramification, being that it is
coming from special people in the society. ‘’when those we consider physically
blind, can actually see, feel and appreciate our little contribution in driving
the wheels of Engr David Nweze Umahi’s administration transformational policies
and programs of Abakaliki capital city, it then goes a long way to show that we
are doing well and on a right track’’, Emegha said. He maintained that the
award is not only a powerful spur for more action, but also a clear indication
that his contribution to this administration is acknowledged and appreciated.
Hon. Emegha felicitated with the association on the occasion
of the 2018 world sight day which has the theme ‘’universal eye health’’. The
world sight day is observed on the 11th day of October, every year
to create awareness on the need for regular eye check and how care for those
with visual problem. He stated that, It Is his innermost desire that all the
challenges orchestrated by their visual condition be addressed to give them
sense of belonging thus, bringing out the best in them. He urge the association
to continue to support the administration of Engr David Nweze Umahi and ensure
they reelect him come 2019 general election to continue his good works in the
state. Hon Stanley Okoro Emegha pointed out that Umahi places high priority on
the welfare and needs of the less privileged and disables in the state and will
continue to ensure he enhances their welfare.
Earlier, the state chairman of the association, Barr. Enyi
Joseph Nwabueze thanked the governor and the awardees for their support and
assured of the associations’ readiness and unalloyed support for Umahi’s
administration and his reelection bid. He said that their support for Umahi and
his administration was based on his achievements and benevolence to the less
privileged and physically challenged persons in the state.
However, the national association of the blind, Ebonyi state
chapter, observed this year’s world sight day at Women Development Center (WDC)
Abakaliki. Some of the activities used to mark this year’s event included, solidarity
road work for Governor Umahi’s reelection, from WDC to Government house, drama
and dance by the members of the association.
High point of the event was award presentation to deserving
personalities in the state, whom the association said had impacted positively
in their lives and wellbeing. The recipients of the awards were, Chief Mrs
Rachel Umahi, wife of the Governor, Ebonyi state; Hon. Stanley Okoro Emgha, SA.
To the governor on capital city; Engr
Timothy Nwachi, DG, EBBC and Father Abraham Nwali, SSA to the governor on
religion/welfare matters among others.
