Petty night traders within some strategic locations in Abakaliki metropolis have been advised to conduct their businesses in an orderly manner, in order not to jeopardize government efforts in maintaining adequate security, civilized and aesthetic Abakaliki capital city where everything works well for the good of all.
The advice was handed down to the traders by the special assistant to Ebonyi state governor on Capital City, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha, while on a routine inspection of night activities within the metropolis. He advise the traders particularly, those that operates within areas like old Abakaliki/Enugu road opposite Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium, Udensi round about by police officers Mess, Vanco junction and others, to refrain from abandoning their wooden tables, other objects and rubbish which they used during their night hours business in the area. He maintained that such object defaces the capital city, which government is putting its best to give it the needed facelift. He further revealed that, apart from defacing the city, some bad element do hide under those objects after they have close their businesses to cause security threat to the populace.
Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha therefore, urged the traders to get for themselves a detachable plastic tables which will be easy for them to take home after their business hour, so as to make the space free from any rubbish, other unwanted objects and any illegal occupation. He further stressed that government is not in anyway, against their business or have any intention of relocating them out of the place, but against their mode of operation.
