SA Capital City Warns Against Destruction of Government Facilities; Vows To Prosecute Perpetrators


Hon. Stanley okoro Emegha, Special assistant to Ebonyi state Governor on Abakaliki capital city has frowned at the rate at which, motorist destroys government property at will, within the Abakalik metropolis. He said that most of the damages done to the public infrastructures are perpetrated by heavy duty vehicles drivers which occur mostly at night.

Emegha warned that government will henceforth, be tough on anyone caught damaging any of the facilities as appropriate measures has been put in place to checkmate the activities of those unpatriotic elements. He said, anyone caught will be charged to mobile Court and be prosecuted accordingly, ‘’we have notified the neighbourhood security watch, the police and all authorities saddled with security management about the ugly trend, and I assure you, it will not be business as usual. Anyone found culpable of destroying government facility will be ruthlessly dealt with legally without reservation’’ he cautioned.

The special assistant to the governor on capital city also urged the leadership of the building materials market to warn their members especially those who drive heavy duty vehicles to be mindful of government installations to avoid falling victim, as no amount of plea or blackmail will deter government from its planned protection of facilities.

He revealed that the worst hit areas are Akanu Ibiam flyover area, Presco Junction, Udensi Round About and Abacha Round About respectively. He therefore, urged those in haulage business to prevail on their driver to be mindful of the facilities while driving to avoid falling victim.
