The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected Boko Haram member said to have been the mastermind of “most of the recent attacks in Benue State.” He was identified as Aminu Yaminu, a.k.a Tashaku. Tashaku was arrested by combined troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade, the Police and the Department of State Security Services in Makurdi,the state capital. The army said the suspect “is believed to have masterminded most of the recent attacks in Benue State.” “Following an intelligence report, it was gathered that AMINU has concluded plans with his cohorts in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and Nasarawa states to launch a major attack on innocent citizens in Benue State,” the army added. Governor David Umahi has ordered for immediate arrest of the policeman attached to the Ebonyi State Anti Kidnap Squad over the death of a commercial motorcycle operator, popularly known as Okada in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital. The Governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor described the incident as barbaric and callous and expressed confidence that justice will be done in the killin g of the deceased. The National Chairman of the party, Mr Uche Secondus, hinted on Thursday at an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, He hinted that all former presidents and former leaders of Nigeria were in unison to make sure that in 2019 a fresh and new government was formed in the interest of the nation.
