MY TRAVEL TO UK, MERE COINCIDENTAL- IGP IDRIS

Image
The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris, has denied travelling to London for the purpose of meeting with Buhari. The IGP, in a statement on Wednesday, explained that his official visit to the United Kingdom, at a time when the President was also spending his vacation there, was only a coincidence. A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Acting Commissioner Don Awunah, said the IGP was in London on the invitation of SO15, the London Metropolitan Police Service, contrary to reports in some section of the media, that he had led a delegation to meet with the President. “For the avoidance of doubt, the IGP did not lead “a high powered delegation” to visit President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on vacation in London. The visit of the IGP to London while the President is on vacation, is merely coincidental.”

JAMMEH : AM READY TO HANDOVER

Image
Defeated Gambian leader Yahya Jammeh has agreed to cede power to the country's newly inaugurated leader, a Senegalese government official confirmed late Friday. Final arrangements were being made to the agreement, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of lack of authorisation to speak to the press. Jammeh, however, has offered to step aside once before but changed his mind. But he was rapidly losing any claim to power, as the chief of Gambia's defense forces pledged his allegiance to the new president, Adama Barrow, and said Gambian forces would not put up a fight. The leaders of Guinea and Mauritania arrived in Gambia earlier on Friday to persuade Jammeh to cede power in the West African nation, while a regional military force awaited orders to roll into the capital and force him from the office he held for 22 years. Barrow, who was elected president last month, was sworn in on Thursday, and the UN Security Council voted unanimously to approve the

IMPERATIVES OF THE 3-DAY PRAYER SUMMIT BY EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR.

By Philip Obasi Nweze In every generation, God's plan for humanity includes certain people who do the extraordinary. These people impact history and champion impossibilities by using divine solutions to overcome challenges. These remarkable leaders exhibit virtue and courage in crisis because of their trust in God and fortification of their souls with Christian worldviews and thus, are able to make prudent policies that sustain their people in times of crisis. Throughout biblical times and the history of man, men have been used by God to play an important part in God's sovereign eternal plan for his people. Truth is, only God inspired leaders can solve the world's crisis. Good-natured leaders are as rare as gold, one is enough to change the fortunes of an entire race. Governor David Umahi belongs to the rare breed of God fearing leaders who believe in the efficacy of prayers. At a time when government of states in Nigeria need powers to their elbows to be able to survive

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, says there is no where  in his state  for any opposition political party to sweep.    Umahi, who spoke when a   delegation from Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo   Federal constituency as well as stakeholders from Onicha-East constituency paid him a new year homage   in Ohaozara LGA , explained that his efforts to transform the state had made it impossible for  broom  to be useful . The governor, who apparently was making reference to the All Progressives Congress   and its symbol in the state, added jokingly that   “our people doing handiwork have refused to produce brooms again.”    A statement  on  Saturday evening by Umahi’s Chief Press Secretary, Emma Anya, however  quoted the governor as having said that the only recognisable APC member in the state was President Muhammadu Buhari.   Umahi, according the statement, said:    "When you have broom in Ebonyi State where will you sweep? Is there any place to be swept? Is Ebonyi no

NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EBONYI STATE By His Excellency, Engnr David Nweze Umahi.

Image
A message of love and care; a message of a promise of better days ahead; and a message of double assurance that we have the determination, the will and the commitment to meet allthe challenges that may confront us in the coming year. We are entering the year 2017 with an assured hope for positive changes. Assurances of total turn around in all areas of our individual and collective lives. As a government, we are thankful to God that Ebonyi is among the few states of the federation where civil servants went home with their salaries from January to December and are paid by 15th of every month. We have even done more than that by paying 13 month salary to all civil servants. This we have done for two years running. That Ebonyi is counted among the few states that do not owe salaries is not only remarkable, it is a testimony of rare ingenuity on the part of my administration. As we begin 2017, the story will not change.    It is equally worthy to note our achievements in the area of A
