The United Bank for Africa PLC has supported the proactivity of the Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi on the COVID19 scourge and other diseases in the state even as it pledged continued support to the state government. The branch controller of the Bank, Mr Sam Agbo today eulogised Governor Umahi dogged determination and commitment to the fight aHgainst Corona Virus scourge. Mr Agbo said Umahi's timely response to the malaise should attract appropriate support by all kind-hearted organisations, this he said informed the donation of the sum of Twenty Eight Million and Five Hundred Thousand Naira Only by the Abakaliki branch of the bank. According to him the UBA manager, Governor Umahi has demonstrated the capacity to handle the scourge hence the support to ensure all necessary materials are provided to mitigate the scourge as part of its corporate social responsibility. As the coronavirus pandemic ravages the world, I applaud the various Nigerian state governments who have proactively taken measures, such as issuing stay at home orders, and shutting down non-essential markets and other places of mass gatherings, while also giving guidelines for social distancing. However, we must accept the fact that much of the Nigerian public have a subsistence existence. A large percentage of our people do not have the financial capacity to withstand long periods of self-isolation and even lockdown. It is, therefore, incumbent on the Federal and state governments to provide palliatives to the Nigerian people to enable them to survive, even as they abide by these necessary measures put in place for their safety. In a move to check the spread of coronavirus to Rivers State,  the State Government on Wednesday announced that air , sea and land routes into the state will be closed to traffic, beginning 6pm, Thursday,  March 26, 2020. In a broadcast on Wednesday,  Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Ezenwo Wike said that the measure became necessary in view of recent developments. By Our Reporter In a move to adopt safety measures in ensuring that the Corona virus pandemic did not find its way into Ebonyi state. The state Governor, Engr David Umahi, in addition to the earlier announced preventive measures against the Virus, has further ordered the closure all motor Parks loading passengers to other state of the federation, especially, the worst heat areas like Abuja, Lagos and all the infected states. Umahi further directed that as from Saturday 28th March, the state will be a total locked down as no vehicular movement will be allowed into or outside the state, except for those conveying foodstuffs and other consumables. Uchenna Aga have commended the school Agricultural Committee members of Girls High school, Azuiyiokwu for the excellent performance they have put up In their Poultry farm projects. The SA, who was in the school to assess the performance of the program, applauded the management for putting up the best. He however, advised them to seek for other areas of comparative advantage and explore, for greater productivity. Aga urged them to make available a comprehensive farm report and financial statement for records purpose.
