Court Upholds Anambra Federal Lawmaker's Victory

The Anambra State Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of Sen. Stella Oduah as the Senator representing Anambra North in the National Assembly. Sen. Oduah who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation in the Senate,  floored the APGA candidate , that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 18 others to win Anambra North Senate seat. Oduah polled 113,989 votes, the APGA candidate polled 59,937 votes while Mr Nelson Onubogu of the APC polled 11,995 votes. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the election, Chinedu Emeka had challenged the election, alleging that Oduah was not qualified, The petitioner also alleged that there were electoral malpractices which influenced the victory of the two-term Senator. Ebonyi Govt Secures FG's Approval To Construct An International Airport

The federal government has given approval to the Ebonyi state government to construct an international airport in Abakaliki, the state capital. The approval followed a request by the Ebonyi state government and subsequent visit to the proposed site by the technical team from the federal ministry of transportation and its agencies, The Sun reports. CelplusMedia gathers  that the state government was sent an approval letter by the safety and technical policy department of the federal ministry of transportation. The letter dated September 5, 2019, and signed by the director of safety and technical policy, Captain T Alkali, was addressed to Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state.

Alleged Abakpa Market Crises; Ebonyi Commissioner Gives Clarification

Stanley Okoro Emegha have given clarification to the conflicting reports on the crises that occurred in early hours of Wednesday in Abakpa market, Abakaliki, alleging that hoodlums invaded the market and caused crisesthat led to the death one person in the market. Hon. Emegha while responding to questions from newsmen who converged in his office to get his account of the situation, stated that he was at the market to seal up about five shops, identified to be hideout of some criminal elements who perpetually burgles shops in the market and those who have refused to remit the tax due to government to government coffers. The Commissioner said that after the sealing up exercise, he retired to attend a meeting with the Governor. Abakpa Market Leadership Tussle: Government Wades In, Resolves Crises

Receiving the information, the Hon. Commissioner for Internal securi ty and boarder peace, Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha immediately stormed the market and ordered for immediate reopening of shops in the market which was allegedly locked up on the order of the former chairman, Mr Christopher Eze. Gunmen Abducts Hospital CMD, Kill Two Police Officers

The Edo Police Command has confirmed the killing of two of its officers attached to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), Prof. Sylvanus Okogbeni. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the incident happened at Ramat Park, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state on Monday while the CMD was returning to Beni n. DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s Spokesman, who confirmed the incident while speaking with NAN said that the policemen were killed by suspected gunmen who also abducted the CMD. NAN reports that two other persons in the convoy, whose identities have yet to be ascertained, were shot dead. Nwabuzor said that investigations into the incident had commenced.
