Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State to accept defeat in good faith if it loses the July 14 governorship election. Atiku, who visited Gov. Ayo Fayose in Ado Ekiti on Monday said losing an election to a rival party should be seen in the light of the concession to defeat by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Atiku was accompanied by the members of the PDP Governorship Campaign Council. Over 3,000 members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ndufu-Amagu, Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi state have defected to the ruling People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in the state. The decampees were led into the PDP by Dr. Chuka Nweke chieftain of the APC in the area. Speaking at a ceremony for their formal cross over Nweke said he was moved to join the PDP because of intractable crisis in his former party. He said the mass defection of Labour Party members worsened the crisis in the APC and that he cannot continue to be in the APC which he said will not make any headway in next year’s general election. Also speaking, the Ndufu-Amagu ward Secretary of the APC, Friday Oreke said that their defection to the PDP has further weakened the APC in the area.
