According to Mr. Celestine Okeh, Chairman planning committee of the event, delegates from both the national, zonal and State council of the Union are expected to be at the event which promises to be colourful in the state. He revealed that the inauguration will also attract stakeholders, friends and partners of the company within and outside Ebonyi State. Former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha arrived National Assembly premises at 7:40.am on Tuesday ahead of the inauguration but was denied accreditation. Okorocha, who was declared winner of the Imo West Senatorial District, was not issued certificate of return by INEC. However, a federal high court in Abuja last week ordered that he be given his return certificate. It was, however, gathered that Okorocha was not accredited by the National Assembly management to attend the inauguration. It was not clear if INEC had complied with the court’s directive.

Senator Ahmed Lawan has been elected the Senate President of the 9th Senate, as he defeated his contestant, Senator Ali Ndume. Counting so far showed that Lawan was leading with 68 votes while counting continues. Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has disengaged all his political appointees ahead of his exit from office on May 29. Al-Makura announced the disengagement of the appointees during an expanded state executive council meeting on Wednesday in Lafia. He said the decision was to ensure a seamless transition from his administration to the incoming administration of Mr Abdullahi Sule. Al-Makura, however, said that some appointees handling critical position that has to do with the day-to-day running of government would maintain their positions until May 29. He also directed all Commissioners to tidy up their hand over notes and submit same to him on or before May 20. The governor said the handing over notes would be a guiding document to their successor. The SA on Capital City to Ebonyi state Governor, Hon  Stanley Okoro Emegha  has commended the fast pace of work at the new International park at Sperando Junction in Abakaliki. speaking while inspecting the project, Hon Emegha praised the vision of Governor Umahi, and as well commended the contractors for delivering to the standard expected of them. He noted that the park will give the capital city a new look, and that the State Government will ensure that the park is always neat and orderly when completed. On the planned commissioning of the park, the SA noted that with the pace at which the buildings are progressing, it may likely be among those the Governor will commission before assuming office for his second term. Emegha reiterated that Governor Umahi will not rest until the state capital becomes one of the best in the country. The Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) has shifted the date for the Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship election earlier scheduled for Nov. 2 to Nov. 16. The Commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okye on Thursday in Abuja. The decision, according to Okoye, was taken at the commission’s regular weekly meeting held on Thursday, following several appeals received by INEC from critical stakeholders from Bayelsa demanding for a change in the earlier fixed date. “It will be recalled that on April 9, lNEC released the timetable and schedule of activities for the Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections. The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied that it indicted Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, Chairman, Presidential Election Tribunal, for bribery and corruption. Public Relations Officer of the service, Mr Peter Afunanya, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, in reaction to reports of such indictment of the judge by DSS. He urged the public to disregard the report, saying it only existed in the imagination of the authors. Afunanya described the report as “unfortunate”, adding that making the falsehood public was unethical. He said the service had commenced a detailed investigation into the controversies surrounding the publication. The spokesman advised politicians to be law-abiding and respect the process of litigations regarding the activities of the tribunal “and leave the service alone”.
