Gunmen wiped out family of 6

Gunmen, in the early hours of yesterday, stormed a church’s premises at Oke-Ota community in Ibeshe area of Ikorodu, Lagos, and shot dead six members of same family. The victims comprised a man identified as Mr. Celestine Nwokoye, who was a taxi driver at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, his wife and four children, among who was an eight-month-old baby boy. Circumstances surrounding the incident could not be immediately ascertained as the Lagos State Police Command said it was still working to unravel the cause. Vanguard gathered that the assailants announced their presence with sporadic gun shots. While some made straight for the apartment occupied by the Nwokoye family, others stood outside, waiting for any intruder. JUBRIN FINALLY GOT THE HAMMER

Abdulmumin Jibrin, former chairman of the Appropriation Committee, has been suspended by the Federal House of Representatives for 180 legislative days. Premium Times reports that as the House of Reps seats three days in a week this subsequently means that his suspension would continue for more than a year. Jibrin will also not be able to hold any position of responsibility for the span of the current National Assembly. The lawmaker on July 21, a day after he was eased out as chairman of the powerful committee has sparked one of the biggest parliamentary scandals over budget padding. He would be barred from the premises of the National Assembly in the course of the disciplinary action. The lawmaker would also not receive salaries or allowances. Some supporters of Mr. Jibrin described his suspension as partisan, draconian and counterproductive. Pastor stuck after he demolished a shrine

One Evangelist Wale Fagbere was rendered unconscious and speechless after invading a community shrine at Ketu – Ayetoro in Yewa North local government area of Ogun state, in a bid to pull it down. Vanguard reports that the pastor whose church could not be ascertained as at the time of this report, had told his members that got ordered him to destroy all the shrines in Ketu community. But the ‘spiritual exercise’ became awry when he got stuck and unconscious right in the shrine. This got the attention of the residents and the priests in charge of the shrine insisted that until they performed some ritual on him, he could not be let off the hook.. It however took the intervention of the Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba Abdulaziz Adelakun, for the case to be settled. The pastor was later treated by the priests before he regained consciousness. Bakasi strike force attacks security troops.

Today, at the early hours of the morning, suspected militants led by the declared wanted criminal kingpin, Benjamin Simplee (AKA G1) leader of the Bakassi Strike Force, in several speed boats attacked troops deployed at Efut Esighi waterfront in Bakassi LGA of Cross River State. During the attack, a soldier was killed in action, while 2 soldiers were missing in action. They also burnt a buffalo pickup vehicle. The troops have also killed 2 of the attackers while the rest escaped with gun shot wounds. However, the reinforcement sent have found the missing soldiers. In addition, the troops location have been reinforced with more gunboats and air component. The clearance and pursuit operation is on going. Boko haram spokesman found in Ali Ndume residents.

Konduga according to family source, “kept on coming to the Senator’s house purposely to apologize to the immediate family for indicting Ndume, who was charged for providing Konduga with politicians’ phone numbers and not disclosing information to authorities under Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act”. Konduga was arraigned before Abuja High Court along with Senator Ali Ndume (Borno South), whom he (Konduga) said was sponsoring him to undertake Boko Haram activities. Ndume had pleaded not guilty to charges of passing classified information to an unauthorised person and of criminal intimidation. Investigation by our Correspondent revealed that, the said Konduga, whose Father and family had earlier claimed is mentally unstable, sneaked into Ndume’s house a day to Sallah at about 8pm last Sunday.
