The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David   Umahi, has inaugurated an 11-man committee to resolve the  communal crisis between Enyigba Izzi in Abakaliki Local Government Area and Enyibichiri Alike in Ikwo Local Government Area. Umahi, who also decorated his Aide de Camp,  Bawado Jonathan , with a new rank  at the Government House in Abakaliki on Wednesday, warned that he might set up a commission of inquiry if the two communities failed to apologise and pledge to sheathe their swords. While he encouraged the chairmen of  Abakaliki and Ikwo Local Government Areas  to set up different  committees  at the local levels  , he enjoined the 11-man committee  to be thorough and honest in its duty . An unidentified woman today jumped into the lagoon from Maza-Maza Bridge in the Mile 2 area of Lagos. The woman was however, lucky, as rescuers fished her out before she could drown. According to a witness, the woman, dressed in a blouse and trousers, was trekking and got to the middle of the bridge, climbed the rail and jumped. “The thing happened so fast that we could not stop her. However, when she jumped, we called for help, prompting people under the bridge to dive in and rescue her,” said one of the witnesses, who gave his name as Emeka. When Daily Sun got the the scene, the woman was lying unconscious by the shore of the lagoon, while her rescuers tried to press her bloated stomach to expel the excess water she took in before her rescue. Two kids between the ages of eight months and two years are currently at the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, seeking to reunite with their family. Their mother was among some passengers that reportedly lost their lives to an accident along the Ibadan-Ijebu Ode Road on Sunday. The siblings, a boy and girl, however, escaped death by a whisker. PUNCH Metro reports that the woman and her children had boarded a bus from Ijebu Ode en route to Ibadan, Oyo State. The bus was said to have had a head-on collision with another vehicle around Awa community – a few kilometres from the take off point. It was learnt that policemen and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps removed corpses of the victims and took the injured to various hospitals in the area. The men, however, did not see the siblings and another child, aged four, who were reportedly trapped in a river around the scene of the crash. The Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) says it will begin the sale of the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) forms on March 20. Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Public Relations made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Bwari. Benjamin said the date was fixed following an agreement that was reached on the harmonization of the examination timetable at a meeting with other exam bodies on Jan. 24. “We will begin the sale of the admission forms on March 20, while UTME is scheduled to hold in May. “We are ready to commence the sales of the 2017/2018 admission forms for UTME and Direct Entry forms on the said date,’’ he said.
